It's a long way from the sweet acoustic tales of young love and bouncy, Spector-ish pop of their 2009 debut Yeah, So?
It's a sound they flirted with on 2011's more confident follow-up Paradise, but it's delivered here on Complete Surrender with more subtlety and aplomb thanks to producer and Richard Hawley co-conspirator Colin Elliot.
That pretty much marked 10 years for the Sheffield duo – Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson.
The band consists of multi-instrumentalists Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor, with Watson contributing piano, Taylor contributing drums, and both performing guitar and vocals. With Charles managing guitar responsibilities and Rebecca manning the drums, Decrease Club started playing local venues alongside groupings like Tiny Dancers. In addition they opened up for Tilly as well as the Wall structure, which brought these to the interest of that music group’s Western european label, Moshi Moshi.Slow Club eventually signed with the label and issued their debut album, Yeah So, in 2009. The duo's second album, 2011's Paradise, boasted a more expansive sound. For their third release, the band teamed up with Richard Hawley's co-producer Colin Elliot for the boldly retro and romantic Complete Surrender, which arrived in July 2014.
